Care Needs for Daniff Dog Breeds

For more than a decade, Steve Verschoor has led the sales department at GTSP Global, a manufacturer of solar panel materials he co-founded in 2006. In addition to his professional endeavors, Steve Verschoor is an active volunteer with his local Humane Society shelter, where he adopted his rescue dog, a daniff.

Daniffs are a designer dog breed developed from crossing Great Danes and mastiffs. Since both breeds are very large, daniffs can weigh up to 190 pounds and stand nearly a meter high. They are an affectionate and protective breed and do well in households with young children or other pets. They have a playful but low-energy temperament and require around half an hour of exercise every day.

While daniffs are responsive to positive reinforcement training, they are not an easy breed for first-time dog owners. Training and socializing should begin during the puppy stage. Owners who adopt older daniffs may need support from professionals to train the dogs appropriately. Since they are susceptible to bloating and gastric problems, it is recommended they eat smaller meals throughout the day.
